Transmission Exhibition | Amsterdam Museum

Miep and photographer Milette Raats met 6 years ago. Miep was attending a transgender programme at Amsterdam’s VU medical centre. Raats photo-graphed Miep as her muse, with the city as decor.

For Milette Raats, the camera is a medium through which to meet the world. Her personal connection with her portrait subjects gives her work an intimate character that evokes associations with film stills. For Raats it is important that her work has space for free interpretation. Raats hopes that her photos encourage people to share their thoughts and ideas.

The Amsterdam Museum has three images of Raats purchased from the exhibition “Transmission” to be included in their collection.
